Herbalist At Heart
Being a herbalist at heart, I am blessed to live in rural Nova Scotia on a property that has been in my husband’s family for many generations, Ancestral Land. I have worked in many different positions and roles during my lifetime and as long as I can remember I’ve held a special place in my Being for the natural world. I have been aware of the energies at play there and have spent many hours exploring all facets of this world. Our Earth Mother with all her gifts and glory.
I have studied, researched and identified many native plant allies in our area. Wildcrafting herbs for medicinal purposes and exploring the old ways of many cultures. Nature made it’s way into my artwork, my smudge bowl and my teapot.
Forever using herbs and medicinal plants for teas, tinctures, salves and cooking. I took some formal distance training thru the Dominion Herbal College in Burnaby, BC in 2002. I received my Chartered Herbalist Diploma. This training delved into the physical body, anatomy and physiology as well as plant identification and uses.
I have made lip balms, hair tonics and numerous other personal products for my own use, my animals and gifts for friends. I have held herbal walks on our property and shared my knowledge of the heritage herbs growing in this area. I am a songwriter and the name and attributes of these delightful little plants grace a number of my songs.
As a Chartered Herbalist I work with the energies and properties of our herbal allies to assist and nourish the body. There is a herb to support every system and condition. Herbal allies can be a wonderful addition to our overall health and wellness. It is especially wonderful to be able to obtain these plants from the land in which you walk, they call out and I answer their call.
